Would you like to try Iyengar Yoga – even for the first time? Have you practiced for a while but do you want to learn more about how to deal with the nervous system? Do you (and your Iyengar yoga teacher) want to learn more about how to address your issues in a yoga class? Or are you ‘just’ interested to learn from an inspiring and experienced Iyengar yoga teacher?

Now is your chance: Garth McLean is coming back to the Netherlands!

Yoga is not a miracle cure. People who practice or teach yoga get back pain, scary diseases and eventually die, like all living things. But yoga practice can prepare you – both physically and mentally – as best as possible for what life has in store for you.

BKS Iyengar said it beautifully:

“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured, and endure what cannot be cured”.

Garth is someone who truly embodies that concept, and from whom we have learned a lot in many areas. It is a real privilege to learn from him.

He shares his enthusiasm for the healing potential of a dedicated yoga practice with students and teachers at every level around the world.  His personal in-depth knowledge of Iyengar Yoga inspires not only those with MS and other neurological conditions, but all yoga students.

Program

Friday : Yoga and the Nervous System. Session for yoga teachers and their students | 15.00-18.00

This session aims to give yoga teachers the tools to work with ambulatory persons with MS and similar disorders. So you can help them in your classes to mitigate their symptoms & ease suffering. And it helps the students in question to find ways of working that are adequate for their specific condition.

Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers and teachers in training are welcome to this session, and are invited to bring their student(s). Do you have a student or are you someone with a neurological condition or movement challenge? Please get in touch with us and we will send you a form so you can write down your main questions or issues.

Saturday and Sunday morning: Yoga for Every Body | 11.00-13.00

Specifically but not exclusively for people with MS or other movement challenges. Discover how learning yoga can help you deal with your present condition. Beginning students are very welcome, but anyone with an open mind can benefit from these sessions. Including more mature students!

If possible, we strongly encourage you to come to both morning sessions

Though individual cases vary, symptoms often manifest in similar ways. Based on ability, we will address principles and strategies to enhance body mobility and stability while cultivating strength and offering symptom relief through Iyengar Yoga.
