You know what they say: there’s no such thing as ‘bad weather’, there’s only ‘bad clothing for the weather’. It’s just taking some time to get used to the weather at this time of year. Where were those rain pants again? Putting on and taking off your scarf, hat and gloves every time. Taking your bulky sweaters out of the mothballs. And for those who wear glasses: cycling at dusk with wet glasses and the headlights of oncoming traffic – I feel your pain.

The advantage of the occasional drizzly autumn day: it’s perfect yoga weather! Whether you join us on the heated floor or prefer to stay home and join an online class, yoga is always possible. And you can always do some yoga at home.

Your home practice doesn’t have to look like a class: an hour or 90 minutes with some sort of theme or direction. In your own practice, you have much more freedom in designing what you need and how it can fit your schedule. But that freedom can also be intimidating. We’re happy to help. For example, did you know that every Friday afternoon a group of enthusiasts meets in the studio to practice on their own? You get the best of both worlds: the space and all the studio props, people to watch or collaborate with, and you can still do exactly what you want or need. You just have to leave the house. And for extra motivation: on Friday 5 december there’s a special event. Scroll down for more information.

Whether you want to practice at home or join in on Fridays, if you’d like more information on how to shape your own practice, Nadège offers a masterclass on this topic. Read more below!

We hope to see you soon – in the classes or at one of the workshops!

– Hiske & Claas

This coming weekend, we have a busy workshop on Iyengar yoga and osteopathie with Billy Konrad en Tobias Lotan Please note: the schedule for regular classes has been slightly changed!

In March, we’ll be hosting Uday Bhosale. The early bird discount runs until the end of December, so keep that in mind if you’re still unsure about a weekend of playful Pune-style yoga. And if you’d like to read more about Uday: he was in Ljubljana last summer, and Run to Yoga wrote this lovely report about it.

The dates for the workshop with Stephanie Quirk are set: she will be teaching in Utrecht from September 24-27, 2026 on the therapeutic side of Iyengar yoga (but… all yoga is therapy, really). Read more here, and you can also book now. Read more here, and you can also book now.

Also a great way to stay warm: a few practitioners that are regulars ar our Friday Selfpractice, are currently using this time to prepare for a special challenge: 108 Surya Namaskar (sun salutations).
In the yoga tradition, 108 is a significant number. Guruji often practiced 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar — and on December 5, we’ll give it a try as well.
Would you like to join?
Come to iYoga Utrecht on December 5 at 14:30. We’ll start together. Free of charge!
You don’t have to complete all 108 rounds — just do the number that feels right for you.

Prefer to join the regular self-practice on Fridays instead? That’s also possible. Please register in advance through the website.

See below how much fun it is to practice together!

What's in store?

If you’ve been taking yoga classes for a while, you’ve probably experienced the positive effects. The weekly yoga classes provide support and structure, and afterwards you often feel relaxed and renewed. But what if you want to practice outside of the classes?

Let Nadège help you to start practicing yoga independently. You will learn how to put together a balanced sequence, tailored to your own body, energy and intentions. That way you will learn to practice at home with confidence and pleasure, without being dependent on a class. Join Nadège on 29 November – sign up here.

Still wanted: people who like yoga & cleaning!

We are looking for Karma Yogis: people who like to help keep the studio clean and tidy, in trade for yoga classes. Ideally, you clean two times a week. Times are flexible and will be determined in consultation, preferably during the week. We are looking for someone who wants to clean regularly for at least a few months!

Are you interested? Or do you know someone who might be? Send them our way!Â
