Letting go of your expectations of how ‘things will go’ is one of life’s hardest and most painful lessons. To learn this is one of the great tasks of the Yoga Sutras.

We recently received the message that Leen Koppenol passed away after a short, severe illness. Leen was a welcome student from day 1 of iYoga’s establishment. Leen and Bea were even the first to guess that we were going to start ‘for ourselves’.
Leen took yoga seriously and was always looking forward to it. One of his – for us – great achievements is that he, together with Dorthe, managed to persuade Hiske to guide a group of students to become a teacher themselves. It goes without saying that he took part in this in-depth course himself. This led to him receiving his certificate a few years later. Since then he has also been a valued teacher. Due to Corona, his regular lesson had disappeared. But we always assumed this was temporary.

We remember Leen as a friendly, humorous, quirky, well-dressed personality with a penchant for ingenious prop use, which we always loved to see enter. Someone who brought people together, even outside of yoga classes. We will miss him and wish Bea lots of strength and love.

Day and night, inhale and exhale, living and dying. The positive and the negative. They are both necessary and keep each other in balance. Sometimes they are close together, the balance is easy to feel, and sometimes the contrasts are sharp and poignant. And we just have to try to reconcile ourselves with that, using all the means we have available to us. One of those possible means is yoga. If words fail, you can at least do something. Feel, breathe, exist.

Please leave a review

If you like our classes, we’d really appreciate if you can let the world know, for instance by telling your friends or by giving us a google review. It really helps us!

Sign up for classes

Another thing that helps us, is if you sign up for the classes you are planning to join. If it might happen that a teacher can’t make it for some reason, we can get in touch with you so you don’t have to stand in front of a closed door…

Schedule changes December

Please check the schedule in December, we have a few schedule changes due to the workshop with Eyal Shifroni (Saturday 10 dec: no class at 10.45!) and of course some changes over the holidays. We’re still open every day with special Christmas and New Year classes!

New: All Levels class with Ahmed | Thursdays 20.00

You might already know Ahmed: he has been subbing for Annabel for the last 2 summers, and has been a familiar face in our classes for a long time now.

Being an ultra-long-distance runner and triathlete, he knows a lot about keeping the body fit, and dealing with the mental issues that are also a big part of such extraordinary effort. Iyengar yoga helped him heal from some significant injuries. He followed the teacher training with Berber Schönholzer in Amsterdam and is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 2021.

Come join him in his new class!

Save the dates: Garth McLean September 2023

We had a lovely time with Garth McLean only a few weeks ago. So lovely that we secured dates for next year already! More info to be announced, but you can already put this in your agenda:
22, 23 & 24 September 2023

Last spots for Eyal Shifroni

10 dec 2022 | 11 feb 2023 | 8-9 apr 2023

We are happy to welcome him back for the 4th time – and this time, with a 4-day course spread out over 5 months.

We have really enjoyed his gentle, refined and joyful teaching in his previous visits to Utrecht. So set aside this time for yourself to discover ways to deepen your practice and find inspiration. It’s a wonderful opportunity!

There are still a few spaces available for the first day on December 10. And if you are planning to sign up for the other sessions as well, please do so. That way we know how many people we can count on. It really helps us!

Beginnersles | Beginners class

We are experimenting: instead of our beginners course, we now have a beginners class on Wednesday evenings, from 19.30-20.45. With Claas.
