Following the successful masterclass in November on designing your own yoga sequence, we now offer a masterclass specifically focused on the practice of the female body.

Learn to adapt your practice to your own rhythm

A man’s natural energy and mindset move in a 24-hour cycle. He wakes up in the morning with a fully charged battery and goes to bed in the evening when it is (almost) empty. This rhythm repeats itself day in, day out, week after week, for most of his life.

A woman’s natural energy, on the other hand, unfolds over a month—even after menopause. Within that month, energy and mindset are constantly in flux and never the same. When we live and function according to a “male” daily rhythm, it can unconsciously cause a great deal of stress. Not only because this rhythm clashes with our own natural rhythm, but also because we expect performance from ourselves that is simply not realistic at that moment.

Take the premenstrual phase, for example. Compared to the previous week, energy often decreases significantly. Mentally, we turn more inward, toward dreams and thoughts. Our interactions are more concise and concise. Physically, we are often more vulnerable and sensitive during this phase. Planning a busy social schedule or a large party is usually not a good idea at this time.

Precision, timing, and the use of props play a key role in Iyengar yoga practice. This makes this method well-suited for tailoring the practice to the different phases of the female cycle. Geeta Iyengar has had a significant and lasting influence in this area. She was one of the first in the yoga tradition to conduct extensive research on yoga for women and demonstrated how postures and sequences can be adapted to menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause.

By consciously choosing postures or variation, the practice can move with what the body needs at that moment: more strength and activity in one phase, more recovery and stillness in another. This makes yoga a practical tool for listening more deeply to your body and working within the rhythm of your cycle.
