Let Eyal show you the ropes
Yoga Kurunta, also known as rope yoga, combines the traditional principles of Iyengar yoga with the use of ropes to support and deepen your practice. This unique approach offers numerous benefits, including enhanced alignment, improved flexibility, and increased strength.
In this weekend workshop, Eyal will show you through various options with the yoga rope wall that this tool can be both envigorating and restorative.

The use of wall and ceiling ropes is very characteristic to Iyengar yoga. The ropes are used to increase awareness and alignment, stretch areas of the body that are otherwise difficult to access, and give support in poses that can be hard to perform like backbends or inversions. In addition, it is just fun to try and experience different sensations with the ropes. The freedom you can find in the support of the ropes can be exhilerating, and bring new self-confindence.
This workshop offers something for practitioners of all levels – but we do advise previous experience with Iyengar yoga.
About Eyal Shifroni
A computer scientist by training, Eyal is fascinated by the logic and precision of Iyengar Yoga. When he’s not traveling the world, he is the director of the Iyengar Yoga Center of Zichron-Ya’akov (Israël). He loves yoga and hiking and practicing outdoors, combining the two. Many people all over the world enjoy his teaching for his creativity and commitment to yoga. His practice has a solid foundation, since he started practicing in 1978.
Eyal has written numerous books on the way we use props in the Iyengar method (A Chair for Yoga and the Props for Yoga series). Next to those manuals he also co-authored two books with Ohad Nachtomy. The first is a book about the interfaces of Western and Indian philosophy and how they relate to what we do on the mat: The Psychophysical Lab. Their most recent book is titled Yoga in Nature and Natural Props for Yoga, combining their twin passions for yoga and nature.
We have really enjoyed his gentle, refined and joyful teaching in his previous visits to Utrecht. In this upcoming workshop he will lead us through a sequence of asana and pranayama, interspersed with some philsophy readings and of course spiced up with some innovative prop use. So set aside this time for yourself to discover ways to deepen your practice and find inspiration. It’s a wonderful opportunity!

Program Costs
The days will start at 10.00 and end at 16.30. In between there will be time for a short (light!) lunch break and some rest. Eyal will decide the exact timings according to the energy of the day and the group.
We think the workshop will be most beneficial if you can set aside the time to join the entire weekend, so the option to book single day tickets will open only after 1 January, if there are still places. Because the workshop revolves around the use of ropes, we will limit the amout of participants so that you won’t have to wait for your turn too much of the time. Until 31 december, you can enjoy the early bird discount.
