The Syntropy of Yoga – Iyengar Yoga, Osteopathy, Movement.

We are delighted to welcome Billy Konrad back in Utrecht! After his first visit in 2025, we received many enthusiastic responses so we are very happy that Billy and Tobias will return to continue their work with us.

Billy Konrad is a Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Originally trained at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, he continued his studies in Paris and has been based in Portugal since 2012. Billy brings more than 30 years of uninterrupted study, practice and teaching to his public classes and workshops.

In this workshop he works together with Tobias Lotan. Tobias started his career in body work as a massage therapist in 2009. In 2015 he completed his education in the University of Wales and became an Osteopathic Doctor. From early on, Tobias questioned traditional models of treatment in which the practitioner is positioned as the primary agent of healing. He became increasingly interested in approaches that support active participation and self-understanding in the healing process.

Committed to empowering his clients with their own ability to heal, Tobias began to use movement as medicine, integrating tailored exercise protocols in each treatment session. Serendipitously, it was at this time that his path converged with Billy Konrad’s and the Syntropy of Yoga, a synthesis between Iyengar Yoga and Osteopathy was born.

Their collaboration began in 2020, when lockdowns unexpectedly created the opportunity to combine their individual fields of expertise. Through an ongoing dialogue between Iyengar Yoga and Osteopathy, they developed what is now called The Syntropy of Yoga — an integrated approach to movement, anatomy and self-healing.

They developped 6 modules in which they move through all basic movement patterns and major families of asanas. The modules can be taken individually.

Theme: Shoulders

Join us for a deep dive into the Shoulder Complex. Its unique function, movements, structure, and challenges.
Billy states, ‘In my experience, when I first started practicing and teaching Yoga in the early 1990s, the most common physical complaint from students for the first 10 or 15 years was lower back pain. That has now certainly been replaced by shoulder, neck, and upper back pain, blockage, and dysfunction. The reasons for this are many and complex, and this weekend is an opportunity to look into this interesting transformation.’

→ Explore classic asana and pranayama enriched by interactive anatomy sessions
→ Learn foundational movements and archetypal asana relating to the shoulder
→ Map the unique anatomy of the shoulder complex
→ Discover its emotional and philosophical dimensions
→ Refine your understanding of sequencing in relation to the shoulders

… and more!
