Nine years ago, Dorthe got some really valuable advice: ‘You kind of slouch when you’re standing, maybe you should try yoga’. Even though she was doubting at first, she still stepped into the yoga studio. And she’s still glad she did.
Something that started with one class per week, has evolved to a daily practice. In search for more depth, the teacher training was a logical next step. Firstly to gain insight in her own practice and Iyengar yoga, but soon she was captured (again!) by teaching. Dorthe is fascinated by the possibilities for differentiation in the Iyengar method: ‘Every person and each body is different. This means I have to explain and demonstrate the postures in a different way. Because of that, I learn more in each class I teach’. Dorthe loves to see students gain body consciousness. The contact and interaction between body and mind.
Dorthe has a background as a high school Dutch language teacher. She now works as an online communications advisor for a professional organisation for midwives. She is certified at the Introductory level since 2017.
